Neo. flower changing color
I have a Neofinetia falcata x Darwinara charm 'Rainbow' that the flowers have changed color, when it first bloomed the flowers were white with a pink tinge now they are yellow with a pink tinge. Is this color change normal or have I done something to cause this.
I don't believe I have done anything as I fertilize once a month with a weak 20-10-20 fertilizer in RO water.
The first picture is when it first bloomed the others were taken today.

Im sure its normal for the cross, considering how extensive the parentage is. In fact, there are many orchids that have this trait of color change over time.

Well it does have Rainbow in one of the parent's name, so maybe that is where the color change comes from? I love the pot by the way!

neofinetia hybrid.
becca, what you are experiencing is probably color change due to aging. if the flowers, which start out pink-edged and white and change in tan/orang"ie" and stay that way for 10-14 days then you have a variety of neo hybrid that is novel. if the flowers fade apon turning this color orang"ie" then the flowers are fading and are done.

From the color of the leaves it looks like it's getting too much light. That may not be the cause of the change in color of the flower..maybe like Becca said.

Now that I think about it, I am wondering if the seller I got mine from that has Rainbow in the name, just calls it that because she doesn't know what color the blooms are until it blooms for you? Just a thought is all! Can we confirm that Rainbow is really part of the name?

The spike itself looks fresh, as do the blooms, so I'm wondering if it is a characteristic of the plant and that "rainbow" in the name reflects that. In that case, maybe "chameleon" would be more accurate. In the meantime, it looks great!

Sorry I don't have any info on the color change but I absolutely love the pot it's in. Do you remember where you got it? Oh and the Neo's not bad either
