interesting ... what is natural spread of flowers? How often does it bloom? Has spur from neofinetia in background. Is it fragrant? Have you seen other color patterns?

Hi,

the flowers are approx 3 cm in diameter, second flower this year. It is only slightly fragrant (lemony/soapy), and only during the day, most intense mid-morning.

With this plant, coloration is consistent. I have no information about other plants from this grex...

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you tell me anything about the ascda. parent? Is this a plant that you propagated or one that you purchased?

I bought the plant. Ascda Sennezauber ist not yet registered AFAIK, but was available in Roellke's shop. Its pedigree is Ascda Guo Chia Ling x V. coerulescens var. flava.

BTW: I just selfed it

There's no registration for Sennezauber at RHS yet. Do you know who made the cross? I am doing a talk on yellow vandaceous (complex) intergeneric hybrids. The yellow of Ascda. Guo Chi Long and V. coerulescens var. flava (Sennezauber) is definitely present in your Nak.; but your Nak. also takes on the neofinetia's flower form. When judging vanda hybrids, round, full, flat flowers are favored over the open form of hybrids with neofinetia, arachnis, renanthera, etc. in their backgrounds. I think there's merit to both forms. Do you have a link to Roellke's?
Thanks in advance for your additional comments.

Hi Cneos,

although the plant comes not directly from Roellke, I am almost sure he/they did the crossing.

Roellke ist one of the most renowned orchid gardeners in Germany, and it is not just one person but a whole family. They are heavily invovled running on of the two orchid organisations in Germany.

Moreover, he is one of the few how does his ownn seedings.

The name of the parent "Sennezauber" (Senne magic) refers to the local region "Senne" where Roellke is located.

Unfortunately, the link to Ascocenda Sennezauber is dead now. But by googling you may have access to the cache.

The link is: http://www.roellke-orchideen.de

And, please feel free to ask any questions, even via PM, okay?
