I was wondering if anyone could recommend some must have neofinetias. I am getting in on a group Barampung order and have Samsojeon(Mangekyo) reserved (thank you Duane!). The flower having multiple colors and a triple spur makes it a must have for me.
I'm also really liking some of the structure of the plants like kabutomaru and yoroidoshi. I think the neatness of their growth patterns and how they retain alot of their leaves are what catches my eye.
If anyone has some good recommendations for interesting flower varieties, aesthetic fan structure, or even variegation let me know!
Welcome! I only have one neo in my collection thus far, so I cannot advise, but if you look at the top of this section on the board, you'll see a lot of sticky threads which include descriptions of a number of different neo types. In particular, you might find it useful to peruse the following:
I think some of the pics in those threads may no longer be available, but you can always do an internet search, or even a search on the board here, to see if there are some pics that may help your selection.
I have over 20 neofinetias already, they have nice new growth and flowers so I believe I have learned.
Did you have any recommendations? I found a few with the look I am thinking of, they seem to retain alot of leaves and are less curved (other than the Suhae):
I would go through all the pictures and just see what you like. Make note of what catches your eye....
Flower shape/color, leaf color/shape, fan shape/growth pattern, lower fan color/pattern, root colors, flowering frequency, size, etc. There are so many variations and what you should buy really depends on your own tastes. Have fun!
Personally my neofinetia "wish" list changes dramatically month to month. (not so much now that I have too many). There is way too much variation to come up with any sort of "consensus" must-haves. Like if you want the classic fukurin, get a Fukiden. Or use that money and get a dozen other nice varieties instead.
Most are easy enough to grow, I find only a small subset of the typical varieties are difficult.
