Oooooh, they must bloom more often than I thought. And don't require as MUCH light as I thought.

Definitely resembles the neofinetia parent. I don't see much of the Ascocenda Blue Tahourdin at all. Still a lovely flower!

I am embarrased to say, but I don't know what the Ascocenda Blue Tahourdin looks like! I wasn't able to find a photo.

Does anyone know what the Tahourdin smells like?

Well, the pot is a lot taller than my other Neo pots, so this one is actually closer to the lights. I've noticed that the leaves have purplish spots from high light, I think.

I have two, two foot T5's. The leaves are probably only five inches below the lights. The blooms are up high in between the two lights. . .in a shadier space.

Ascda. Blue Tahourdin is cross of Ascda. Karnda x Vanda tessellata. The cross was made and registered by Martin Motes in 2003. So far, the only AOS award is to Ascda. Blue Tahourdin 'Caroline' AM/AOS (exhibited by Motes in 2005.

'Caroline' has very rich red-magenta sepals and petals and a purple lip (an attribute of V. tessellata parent.)

My attraction to this hybrid is in the clone 'Bronze Grape' - incredible color, heavy substance, metallic texture.

BTW, Ascda. Blue Tahourdin has a faint fragrance, but I think the fragrance of neofinetia falcata is dominant in your plant.

Thanks for sharing your photos with us ... it's always nice to see what others are growing.

Gwen,

What a striking orchid. This one has just been added to my (way too long) wish list.

A real beauty.
