Just for grins, the antithesis of the refined moss mound. This is Neof. falcata f. Amami Island 'Starburst' AM/AOS . I acquired it 7 years ago, already the roots were mostly outside the pot and wrapped around it, such that repotting would have damaged them. So I didn't. And it keeps on going. The show may get better - there are a lot of unopened buds, but a few of the first flowers are fading so the show may just get extended. The award was clearly given to a piece of this plant, but this particular one was a different owner than the one who got the award (but they knew each other...) Maybe the awarded piece was tidier, don't know, OrchidPro on the AOS site doesn't have the award photo. At any rate, this plant has been in - or on - that 6 inch x 6 inch (15 cm x 15 cm) pot for a very long time, much longer than I have had the plant.
