Seeking help with first Neo & Kokedama

Actually, no I haven't. I tried a couple of sphag wraps, and laughed at my results. (I don't have any 5A sphag, so Camille was spot on about that part.) It's currently sitting on a mount of sphag on a plate, and I mist it until I figure out what to do.

Meanwhile, I found a Neo with the purplish color on the spurs and foolishly bought it. It was toasted during transit, and the smallest little thing I've ever had (smaller than the Podangis I was shocked by a ways back).

So I'm sitting around, shaking my head, and looking at these two plants and attempting to regroup my sanity.

Is there, perhaps, hope for that toasted Neo? (good roots and at least a few surviving leaves?) If so, it just might make it... Neos are a lot tougher than Podangis. They grow slowly, but they are robust little 'chids.

Oh, yes, there's hope. And the seller just gave me 40% back on my purchase. It just hit a really rough spot somewhere between here and California. A very HOT rough spot.

well i tie mine to wood (a pine board, two cholla cactus husks and use hygrolon to tie them and no medium.

they all are happy

It isn't easy sourcing the 5A right now, for just a few plants you might try

What if, instead of AAAAA sphagnum, you used brand-new, finely shredded dollar bills? They stand up to hundreds and hundreds of wet-dry cycles. It's illegal to deface currency but it's for the best of reasons.

Edit: Washington was a farmer, so $1 bills are appropriate. But so was Jefferson, so you could also use $2 bills.

Oh, I could source it. But thank you for the kind offer. It just doesn't seem worth it to for an experimental mount, which I may end up liking or not liking, or doesn't fit with my culture or environment in the longrun.

I like finding stuff around the house and yard and "do" things with them. I should probably have asked my original questions, then put up a new thread in the Mounts section. Because I can tell this isn't going to be a traditional potting of Neofinetia now that I'm halfway down the rabbit hole.

Wouldn't work. Bills aren't long enough. That's like maybe 3 or 4A length. And I refuse to glue them together. Plus, felonies aren't on my bucket list... anymore.

they claim that over 80% of the strands are 100mm

i have not opened the cube so i dunno

I made the mistake of trying Besgrow, it won’t work for wrapping, it’s too short.

Seems fine for potting though.
