Default Newly arrived Vanda (Neofinetia) falcata "Isechabo"

Hello everyone,

I finally decided to try growing a Neofinetia falcata. I ordered it online, basically just based on the looks of the adult plants of the same cultivar.

It arrived today, three days after I got the shipping confirmation. I think the leaves are way too much wrinkled. I gave it a good spray and I hope it will bounce back.

Do you think I should repot it? Or leave it in the sphagnum until it grows some more? I'm a little worried abut the rot if I leave it as it is as it looks quite densely packed.

Thank you for your advice!

It should recover. With sphagnum you don't soak when watering.unless the plant is taking up a large amount of water. Run water over the moss for only 1-2 seconds. It will spread through the moss, leaving it just moist, but well aerated. Water again when the top is quite crisp dry.

Some people would unpot a new Neofinetia just to make sure the roots are healthy. If they look good you could slide it back into the pot. That moss is still in good shape.

Thank you for the advice! It was probably potted quite recently. I did check on the roots to see if they look alright. I gently spread apart the top layer of sphagnum. Didn't dared to go further. They looked healthy ti me. Still being extra cautios since this is my first Neo.

Neos are generally easy orchids to grow if you don't suffocate the roots and if you keep them mostly dry during cool weather. Read old threads here before winter comes again so you have an idea of what to do.
