While the name honors Finet, once it becomes a plant name it should be pronounced according to the rules for Latin. In Latin, there are no provisions for pronouncing according to French, Spanish, German or anything else.

I was right about one thing. See my first statement above when I started this thread. I was initially embarrassed about the lack of participation when the poll ended, but it certainly has bloomed far beyond expectations.
