Default How to name this vanda

Hypothetical situation but hoping for it to become true:
Let's say that my Neostylis Lou Sneary x Christensonia Vietnamica flowers and is good enough to enter into our orchid show in February... Do I list the name this way OR do I now list it as Vandachostylis Lou Sneary x Vanda Vietnamica? Nothing like needing a shorter name, ya think?

You would use the currently acceptable terminology.

As the vanda is a species, the specific name should be lower case - Vanda vietnamica.

First, go to RHS and check their database. You need to check both ways (A x B and B x A). Here is the link: The International Orchid Register / RHS Gardening

If it has not been named, then you enter it in the show as:

Vandachostylis unnamed grex
(Van. Lou Sneary x V. vietnamica)

Since show schedules vary from show to show, I can't tell you what class to enter it into (first one that fits, if it is wrong, the judges can move it to the subsequent class that they think it should be in).

Oh, yes, I did that! I hadn't meant to do that. I just had this discussion a few weeks ago with the president of my orchid society on which of the examples I submitted to him were correct/incorrect. Thanks, Ray, for the correction.
