Default My Neos are not blooming am I doing it right?

they seem to grow best in jars like my vandals. they get a fair amount of sun and less though the are shorter then the vandal so I wonder if they are getting enough. they get a overnight soak twice a week one with a tablespoon per gallon of fertilizer. My vandals do well with this light and watering and bloom well .but these guys grow well but I don't think have re bloomed one every few months.

Grossly overfed, both strength of dilution and frequency.

Although technically vandas, they should not be treated like them.

Jars don't have drainage holes. Use a pot that does.

Once every two weeks during growing season.

Less frequently in the late Fall and Winter.

Over feeding results in the plant devoting its resources to growing leaves and not producing flower spikes.

I suspect you are overwatering also which will eventually result in root rot.

Neos are pretty tough plants so improper care sometimes will take time to do them in.

My comments are directed toward neos. The plant pictured is a intergeneric hybrid so I can't vouch for everything said but considering your request for blooming advice, I definitely would try it as overfeeding generally impedes blooming.

they have been getting watered like this for about a year and the roots look good. we have. problem with air roots drying out so I think they are ok that way. but they go on a diet today.

So one year wasn't enough to kill them but keep your overwatering schedule and it eventually will.

Overwatering is the greatest cause of failure with Neofinetias.

I grow mine in vases too, done it for years with no root rot, soaked twice a week and sprayed the other days. I assume by looking at the pics there is no media in the jars and you the empty the jars after soaking.
