This is a neat little plant, but if you're impatient this is not the plant for you. This plant has been in spike since May and as you can see by the first picture, not all of the flowers have fully opened.

Oh yes ... I know this one. It grows in the mountain forests in my country, on the eastern border with Mozambique. I have seen seen mystacidii growing on tea bushe in the tea plantations with infloresecence over 25 cm long. Wonderful, thank you for sharing.

Beautiful, Nikki! I have a few seedlings finally putting on some size 3 years out of flask, so thanks for showing me what I have to look forward to.

Orchid Killer, that's pretty amazing you've seen these in the wild, can you tell us a little about the climate in those areas?

I have seen mystacidii growing in the tree around Aberfolye Tea Estates in Honde Valley, relatively cool max 25C compared to savannah woodland which is hotter and drier. But the humidity in the Honde Valley is much higher with plenty of rainfall, about 1200 to 1500 mm per annum. Sorry we work in British measurements. I do not know what that is in inches.
I've struggle to grow mystacidii, I think the trick is humidity, but not to keep them too wet and to dry out between watering which is pritty standard with most orchids. Also clean water, I am of the opinion that all the Angrecoid orchids struggle with salt biuld up, especial if your water has high lime contend.

Thank you for your kind words and your useful information! It's really great to hear about the environment these orchids come from by someone who has seen them growing in situ.

Thank you for your kind words! And now you know once your patience pays off and you get spikes, you'll need more patience waiting for the blooms. Although, it will be worth it! I can't wait until yours bloom and we can see your pictures!
