Angraecum superbum

Just picked up a large Angraecum superbum for the princely sum of $20. It is potted in a perlite and mossy mixture hence it is quite damp. It seems happy enough but as it is my first Ang. I'm not sure if I should try and repot it in something a little coarser.

I don't grow this one but hopefully someone who does will give you the right advice. For culture, you could check Oak Hill Gardens Orchids web page as they give info on each orchid they sell and they do sell this one.
As for re-potting the orchid, some of the Angraecums don't mind being re-potted while others have a reputation for being very difficult once they have reached blooming size (they sulk or can even decline!) so these ones must be done more carefully. If this one is one of the more fussy ones, it will be important to soak the pot for about an hour before un-potting to make the roots very flexible, then to be very gentle (don't break the roots!) during the re-pot and, after being re-potting, keeping the roots dry for a few days to let them heal. Again, I hope someone who grows this can give you better advice. Good luck!

Thanks leafmite. Couldn't find a culture sheet or similar but doesn't matter. I did a bit of Google and realised it is a synomen of Angraecum eburneum or visa versa depending on what site you look at. But whatever the relationship, I'm going to repot it not only to get the moss and fines out but to get into something with more drainage. At the moment its in a standard plastic. There are some volcanic rock in there but I want to sdd charcoal as well in a medium size.

I grow all my Angraecums in coarse bark. They don't like wet feet.
I have sesquipedale, eburneum, eburneum v. superbum, leonis & magdalenae.
Apart from Ang' mag', all are large f/s.

Cheers roy. Is Angraecum superbum the same as *eburneum v. superbum?

Its actually a subspecies of eburneum. I wrote it wrongly.
I think it has more flowers & longer spurs than eburneum std.

Okay, I just wasn't sure, iospe has it as a separate specie whilst other sites have it as you have described it and others as Angraecum comorense!
