Default Angraecum magdalenae blooming

Hello to everybody! I'm writing this topic because I don't know what to do:last year, I bought my angraecum magdalenae as blooming size .I read that this species requires a dry winter rest, so I didn't water from November to February,it was ok,but now it has decided to bloom! I'm continuing to water since I don't want to loose it's first flowers,but I'm a bit worried about what can happen when temperature gets lower: should I keep on watering?

Sorry for my bad English!

Hello there maffo.

From what I have read, Angcm. magdalenae is a cool growing species that prefers temperatures from 55 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Watering should be fine as long as it's in a fast draining mix that retains moisture. Also, SPHAGNUM OR TREE FERN FIBER SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A MAIN PART UNLESS YOU DON'T WANT IT TO BLOOM. The plant will not flower for years once repotted and sphagnum rots quite quickly. It is ok to use them as at most 1/4th of the mixture however. What are you growing it in right now?

Genus Angraecum - Angraecum Encyclopedia is a great resource if you haven't found it yet (and longed for the ones you do not yet own). I have the mag. but it was a small seedling when I bought it and might just be reaching the size for blooming. I was lucky that when I repotted it into my red lava rock and basket-pot, it didn't seem to mind, despite my clumsiness (broke a few roots!). I had read so much that I was sulking when the orchid grew as if nothing had happened. Still, it was a seedling and quite young at the time and I don't plan to ever disturb the roots again.
I usually look up on the angraecum site where the orchid grows, then look up the seasonal weather for that area. Sorry I cannot answer your question. Good luck!

Thank you for welcome!
@kevinator. I grow my orchids in pure bark,beacause this is an old habit and I think that I could make many disasters with watering if I change compound composition. I repot my magdalenae in March. Now I'm still watering but I wait for the compound to dry completely before watering again.
@leafmite,thank you very much for information.It' s a very interesting web-site.
I' ve recently read that angraecum repotting is a very "critical stage" for these plants. I think I'm lucky too.My plant is about 15 cm tall,it's a bit little,but it wants to bloom despite its small size

15cm? I think mine is around that size. Maybe I should begin paying attention.
If your mag has never minded being repotted, don't worry too much.
Good luck with the blooming!
