Thaks alot for the confirmation Steve. I was wondering about the "spike" and thought it may be the beginnings of a new plant...seeing this grows so slowly and that the root system is not very developped...

Your plant looks great. But that seems to be a new growth, and not a spike. Spikes look very different, you can see the cluster of immature buds almost right from the beginning, and they grow quite fast. And it's a bit late for spiking, these bloom spring through end of summer.

Well if it's a new growth I'm more than happy seeing it's also got a cool new root growing and put out a new leaf this summer.... thanks Camille. I'll see in a month or so????? whenever it grows....
