Angraecum Sesquipedale summer spiking!!!!
Hello all my sesquipedale is spiking in July!! I noticed it this morning and was flabbergasted!! Is this normal? I thought it was a winter bloomer, it bloomed this past winter for the first time.
I am not complaining though I love the flower I was just wonder ing if I should let the spike develop or snip it because it is out of season. I am not looking forward to the smell though...... It's not my favorite. I hope This next blooming will help me figure out for sure if I like the fragrance.

It's fragrant?!!!! What did it smell like to you last time? I have one that was in spike when purchased in March, but it blasted. I don't know when they actually spike though am interested to find out. I understand they take forever and then some to actually bloom once the spike starts though, lol....

Ouch!!! I'm sure the moths like it though! LOL... So is the fragrance really strong or do you really have to be in it to smell it?

It was noticeable in the room not completely scenting the room like b. little stars which I love!!!!!! Up close it was very strong!!!! A lot of people love the smell but it's not my favorite. it's worth having though just for the spectaularity (made up word) of the flower!

I've read that they can bloom twice a year. Congratulations! I have a baby... It will be many years until it is mature enough to bloom. I now buy blooming-sized plants. I love scented orchids/plants. Brassavola is really, really wonderful. I have 'Little Stars'. Right now, it is a non-orchid scenting the air: jasmine (Jasminum nitidum). Good luck on those blooms! Hope the scent is better this time!

I love the scent of jasmine!!!!!! I hope it smells better this time as well! It's such a spectacular flower and a wonderful and interesting subject to photograph! If it still, IMO, stinks I am thinking about selling it. It's a nice plant in a 6 or 7 inch pot so I really hope it smells better.
