Hi Steve,
Mine is grown under HO fluorescent lights about 8-10 inches from the lights. It is mounted on cork with a covering of live moss and watered every day. It's grown intermediate to cool, with the temp rarely above 70 and usually lower during the day, 55-65 at night. |
Thanks, Ron. I hate to hear you're growing it intermediate to cool because our summers have been scorchers the last few years, and that's hard for us to achieve in the greenhouse. But you give me hope that I could move it indoors and succeed in artificial light.

Sorry for the delay in replying, Steve. We've been on the road for the past few days. My plant does very well under HO fluorescent lights and indoors.

I grow this plant outdoors in south florida, so it can acclimate to 90 degree temps. it is mounted to cork and tied to the mount along with some treefern fiber. i water it every day especially during the summer, sometimes twice or more, and keep in bright but filtered light since my willow trellis is mounted to the fence under the tree. apart from the lighting, I treat it like a vanda that appreciates more airflow and slightly cooler temps. after the initial shock of being shipped to the sub tropics, it lost roots as well as an additional 3rd fan but has rebounded just fine and has put out few roots but new leaves on both of the plants that survived.
I've only had it 5 months, and although it's finally blooming size now I dont think it will do anything without more roots. I obtained it from Botanica Ltd and they will have some more available soon. |
