Angraecum sesquipedale, the Comet Orchid!
Flowering now, this probably is the most famous species in the genus, because of Darwin's studies on it.

Amazing! Nice growing Rosim! Do you detect the night time fragrance?
I saw one of these at the last orchid show I went to in April. Very pretty and large. I have two Angraecum sp. A. scottianum and A. diederii. Neither has bloomed for me yet.

Hi Mauro
Another beauty.
I have seen a bunch of Angraecum here because one of my friends loves them.
It seems to me that they are far better than you can see in pics. I am starting to have some too but did not bloom any yet.

Oh, yes, Tindomul1of9, this thing has so strong scent that two flowers alone are capable of filling my entire living room for hours and hours during the night. I don't like that scent much because it has a note of bleach and after a few minutes it starts bothering me. But the flower is incredible, don't you think? This year I must have made something wrong with this plant because I've got only two flowers on one stem and lost another while it was developing. Last year I got six flowers in two floral stems.
Tricho, whatever are the species you are growing, Angraecums are rewarding orchids and you won't regret growing them!

Presently I have
Angraecum didieri
Angraecum eichlerianum
Angraecum elephantinum
Angraecum germinyanum
Angraecum scottianum
But I will order more soon. Next year I should start so see flowers.
I'm starting to have a weak spot for african species.

Congrats on the flowers! I have one as well, for about a year now, but it has not bloomed. How are you growing it?

Esungirl, I grow it in transparent plastic pot using a mix of 50% coconut fiber, 40% small pine bark nuggets, 10% shredded charcoal. I used to grow it in tree fern fiber, but it is getting hard to find it legally on the market.

Rosim that is a beautiful orchid. I recently bought one and it has several leaves, it is in a plastic container, looking very healthy, and I was hoping it would blossom soon. I am very green here, but I was told that if you have many leaves, it is a more mature plant and will blossom. I assumed it was going to blossom around Christmas time. Yours is blossoming now, and the leaves do not appear to be that many. Hummm, interesting. Was I wrongly informed????
I also have it in medium light and mist it daily. I do not water too often, I just don't let it dry out completely. What else should I do/Am I doing the right things?
