Sorry to be ressurecting an old thread, but I thought I'd point out that the plant in that photo isn't aerangis brachycarpa, but is most likely aerangis distincta. The flower shape is quite different from brachycarpa, and almost identical to distincta. In addition, the lateral sepals of the flowers in the photo are not reflexed enough to be brachycarpa.
Not sure this really matters, or if anyone really cares, since you mentioned that this plant succumbed to conditional changes (which is a real tragedy - it was a beautiful plant!!!) but just in case anyone was wondering. This photo comes up on google searches for aerangis brachycarpa, and I wouldn't want anyone to be misled.
If Joyce's descriptions are correct, then I feel that Lourens Grobler's photo on the IOSPE entry for aerangis brachycarpa may also be incorrect.
Some of these aerangis species look quite similar and can be tough to ID.
