I like A distichum, too. Unfortunately, it was my first "kill" and I've been afraid to try it again.

Gloria- It likes warmth it is supposed to bloom around august but it really just blooms when it wants to. keep it moist i forget to water it sometimes and the leaves shrivel but if you catch it, it will plump nicely! you need a few flowers open at once to smell it though and when its humid and warm it helps alot!

It grows SLOW!!! ive had this for almost 5 years and its still in the same pot it has set many offsets but they are still small. id say it has only grown 3 or 4 inches at the most in that time. i would say about the same light as the sun loving Phals like bellina or amboinensis ( sunloving is relative though) the bright end of the phalaenopsis light range.

Connie i think you should try again! With my Didieri i killed the first one in a week!!!!! I discovered when i bought the second one that it was because of lack of air movement and it was staying too wet sometimes it takes a second try to get it right.

Many thanks for you're reply and help Sam
Sounds fairly easy, I wonder if I could actually get this one to bloom for me.
My A. scottianum is over 1 foot long with 4 keikis, had this one for about 6 years now. Not even 1 lil bloom
I think I'll stick it in the coolish window and let if be there for awhile, maybe that will pull the trigger for him.

If you really love this orchid Connie, then don't give up on it. Atlease now you know what not to do. Besides plenty of nice caring people right here to help you along.
