Default How much light for Aerangis biloba?

Hi all,

I have an Aerangis biloba that I have managed to keep alive all winter. I kinda have it in a spot that gets some morning sun, but was wondering if it would appreciate the full blast of south-eastern exposure on my windowsill. The sun would be hitting it from sunrise 5:20 AM to around 11 am. I think perhaps I have been starving the plant of some sunlight. The leaves are very dark green. Thanks.

Just about everyone will know more on this subject than I do but the info I have for a warm temperate zone is that they don't like a lot of light.

I face my sole member of the family (mounted on a slab of tree fern trunk) to the east to avoid the hot p.m. sun and it appears happy and flowers annually.

The literature says they like very shady places in the forest.

So far mine has been a reliable bloomer for me. I grow it int./warm and in high(er) humidity. I grow mine under lights, mostly at the lower levels. The leaves should be dark green. I used to have 1 that I grew in higher light levels, and it struggled, then died.
It's hard to judge your conditions from here. Good luck.

Is your Aerangis plant A. biloba? They need humidity to flower, too.

Mine has a lot of light (more than phals but less than catt) and it blooms every year.

I moved mine to a sunnier spot where it gets a few hours of strong morning sun. Seems to be ok with it.
