Aerangis with rooting spike - Orchid Board

This is spiking Aerangis fustuisa x articulate. Couple of days earlier i noticed that the spike has roots coming out.

Now i am wondering what is going on and what happened.
Do you have any experience with this situation?

It looks more like an emerging flower bud to me, but it's hard to tell. Can you get a more close-up picture, without getting blurry?

They look like buds to me too.

Agreed. I think they're buds, though the whole thing looks a bit strange to me. In any case, I hope you post some pictures when it blooms.

I've seen keikis form apically on the inflorescences of Aerangis biloba and Aerangis luteo alba as well as Microterangis hildebranti.

I have not observed a plantlet form on a node, its always been at the end of the spike for the Aerangidinae.

Is this cross Aerangis Winter Dove = (fastousa x articulata)?

Really doesn't look like roots, I'd say buds as well. I'm really curious to see what they grow into!

I will try to get better pictures of it. If those are buds then yay!

What is confusing me that the nubs that are coming out are longish and stringy and there are about 4 of them - just like something that would come out of a new pb. I was wondering if i am giving it a wrong culture - too much/little humidity, light, etc.

Yes it is cross of fastousa x articulata. I was not aware that it was registered as Winter Dove. That is a beautiful name.
