Thanks, everyone, for your comments.

Carl, I've had it for many years. It's far too large to haul to a show or competition. I have a small cart with canisters on the bottom--same kind that's used to move heavy pieces of furniture and big pieces of electronics--that the plant sits on for about a month in the springtime. The weather's really unpredictable during that time of year here, so the plant often gets pushed into the garage for the evening (which undoubtedly makes for an amusing sight for the neighbors when they see the nut across the street wheeling his giant plant into and out of the garage regularly). We don't have a lot of shows where I'm at anyway, which also limits potential judging opportunities. If I lived in south Florida, however, I might be tempted to load it into the back of a pick-up truck and cart it to a show.

WOW! I had missed this beauty. Great growing Steve. What medium do you have it potted in?
Thanks for posting

Hi, Nenella. There is actually not a lot of potting mix in the pot. I repotted it last year, and because it had so many thick white roots that I didn't want to cut off, I placed a couple of large diameter clay pots inside the pot that you see in the pictures, inverting them so that they made a sort of pedestal within the pot that the plant was then placed upon. The bottom half of the large pot (the one that's visible in the picture) was filled with styrofoam packing material (for drainage). The top half of the pot contained mostly roots (which have now penetrated the packaging material and are starting to come out the bottom drainage hole), which I covered with large-grade coconut husk pieces.

Amazing orchid and you have obviously given it the best of care. With a plant as impressive as this maybe the show judges should come to you!
