Angraecum didieri: Bonsai pot or coconut mount?

I got an Ang. didieri from ebay.
Came in a shallow plastic pot with leca, pumice, charcoal.
I tramsferred in an old bonsai pot that I got in Chinatown for 2 bucks.
But I read that many mount this Angraecum.
I like the way it looks in the pot and the medium is inorganic and fast draining but I wonder what is best for the culture.
I could mount it on a coconut husk in the photo.

I've seem pics of orchids in coconut husk... I would give it a go if I were you.

I love mounts. I don't trust coconut not to decompose really fast though. I cut up about half a dozen of them around July of this year and they are basically garbage right now. That is going to be a beautiful orchid. I wish I had one. Good luck.

A mounted orchid is always so unique, and when in bloom they are outstanding. Take a chance, I have two and roots love to grab ahold of the husk fibers.

Would it have to be misted daily if mounted?
I am just wondering what is best for teh culture.

Well the piece of coconut is fresh so probably would last a year or 2. If it decomposes I can still attach what is left to another mount.

Does this Ang grow very slow? still in the pot.
also it seem to grow vertically on top of the roots - so probably i could not attach all the roots to the mount.
How much light?
I bought it for $ 7 on ebay. It was in bloom during the auction but by the time I received it the bloom had gone. Do these bloom once a year? only one bloom? Also does it form basal keikis sort of like a Neofinetia.

I could grow it hanging on my southern window or a few inches from 2 +2 T12 fluorescents on a shelf.

They are not terribly fast growers to begin with. They arent as bad as other Angraecums with their roots being fussed with, but hopefully it will respond well.

I would leave it in the pot if youre other option is to mount it to a coconut. They like to dry out. The blooming season in Madagascar as listed in Stewart's book is October - January. The one in the greenhouse blooms infrequently throughout the year and usually has a good flush of flowers once a year instead of a sporadic one or two here and there.
