Aerangis: ID needed - riddle solved: ellisii
On my last walk to the greenhouse, before getting everything ready to go to Portland, OR for 10 days very early tomorrow I discovered that this Aerangis labelled fastuosa, started flowering. I know for a while that it wasn't fastuosa as the plant is far too big.
My guess was either A modesta or articulata. The plant has leaves fleshy Phalaenopsis like leaves of 7-8" long and 2" wide of a light green colour. The spur is a whopping 11" long and the flowers about 1.5" in diameter.
Before I saw the flowers, my guess would have been modesta, but now I am not sure it is either modesta or articulata, as the shape and arrangement of petals is quite different. It could of course be that the flowers will look different in a few days.
Was wondering whether any of you had any ideas
Lars
P.S.: Had to post now as I will be away
