Angraecum sesquipedale in a basket??

I've been reading up on repotting Angraecum sesquipedale using coarse material etc. My question especially to those living in South Florida and other hot humid areas is..have you grown yours like a vanda in a wood basket?? If you have, what material have you added to the basket to keep the moisture up a little and is it going to like living in a sunny area like the vandas? Feel free to give me your pros and cons. This guy is getting repotted over the weekend. It really needs out of what it is in now or I'll lose the roots it now has.. I know it doesn't like to have them disturbed so I want to give it the best chance I can..It is no longer blooming.
