Aerangis Winter Dove x Aerangis fastousa Male
Default Aerangis Winter Dove x Aerangis fastousa

Made by Leon Glicenstein of formerly Hoosier Orchids.

The only info on the cross I could find offered typos on the grex. Im guessing its Aergs kotschyana by Aergs Amado Vasquez(?). The fastousa added great substance that my phone couldnt capture, and the rest of the comprised species helped greatly flatten out what fastousa usually has with its cupped flowers. These are a nice flat, slightly reflexive flower I think are amazing.

Very interesting hybrid - great growing and flowering too. The scent at night must be heavenly!

Great growing job! It is clearly very happy! It defineatly is a beauty. Do you have any cultural info you might be able to share as far as how much light (and what kind), temps, and humidity you give it?

And not to stray off the topic but I saw in one of your pictures that you have multiple tags on one of the 'chids....what kind of system do you have going on there?

You're correct on the parentage of Winter Dove. Its cross with A fastuosa is named Winter Snow.

It's lovely.

Its grown along side Cattleyas if that gives you a sense of light. There are some C. cernuas on either side, and C. nobilors too. I could only guess the foot candles in there would be 7500+. Temperatures now range from 75*F on a nice sunny day to 55*F on particularly cold winter nights. The watering, was done kind heavy because of the spikes but still let it dry to a lesser degree than normal.

As far as tags, I think one is an D for the species (or cross) one for the company it came from, and a red to flag that it isnt for sale. It is not how things are normally labeled at the nursery.
