Default Angraecum didieri flower died after 1 week

Hello everyone. I bought an Angraecum didieri in bud, and waited patiently for it to bloom. It's a healthy looking plant, and the flower opened and smelled heavenly, but after a week, it faded and died. I've never had an Angraecum before. Is this normal for this plant? I had kept it on a south windowsill and watered it twice a week. I'd love to know if I did something wrong. It was such a beautiful flower, I wish it had lived longer. Eileen

No, that's not normal. I'd suggest maybe lack of humidity. Mine refused to rebloom until I moved them to my tank with 90+ humidity and rather strong lighting. Now they more-or-less are in constant bloom. The blossoms should last at least 3-4 weeks. Having said that, I suspect the plant was being grown in higher humidity before you got it and properly set the flower bud, but the lower humidity in your situation led to short-than-normal bloom length. Just a thought. Here is mine after the move to the tank

Thanks Ross for the help. Humidity as the solution makes sense. I recently finished my greenhouse kit. I have the plant out there now. Next time it flowers, I'll enjoy it in there instead of our dry house.

Your plant is gorgeous! I'll be excited to see mine grow that big.
