A cross has been registered last year beween Angraecum sesquipidale and Doritaenopsis. I would look it up, but I left the magazine at work today. Will post it later. I think is has been called Chouara and was made in Taiwan.

the cross Brett is referring to is Chouara Kaohsiung Dream (Angraecum sesquipedale x Doritaenopsis Ruey Lih Beauty)
the AOS considers all Paraphalaenopsis species Phals for purposes of hybridization, so to be awarded, Paraphalaenopsis Kolopaking would be called Phal Kolopaking.

I am a snob, but of all the things to hybridize sesquipidale with, they chose THIS?
I am wrought with curiosity to see how this intergeneric turns out though, as well as the science behind how the heck they managed to pull this one off.

maybe they were trying to get a nice pink color with the angraecum flower form.
there's also a few hybridizers that will cross anything that's in bloom at the time, just to see if it works.

I am no going to work this morning now as I broke a tooth - Ouch...
I agree, some people cross anything, but I also would liike to see some colour in the Angraecum form.

Hi
I have emailed KAOHSIUNG DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH AND EXTENSION STATION (KDARES) - after googling it.
I have asked them to forward my email to the cross maker. I asked if they can contact me. My email was returned several times when I asked if they had propagated or cloned the plant.
Lets see if I get a reply.
I will ask for a photo and if they have propagated it I will post.

Had an email from the maker of the cross, waiting for some information in the cross. I asked for pics.
