Angraecoids and tree fern?

Does anyone know definitively: Is is true that angraecoids (Aerangis, Angraecum, etc.) should not be mounted on tree fern plaques (stick with cork or branches)? I have heard yes and no--from serious growers. If true, does anyone know why? I.e., Why it would be harmful?
