Default Aeranthes ramosa

Intriguing species from Eastern Africa. The genus name has some poetry in it as Aeranthes means flying flower! As for me, I can't help looking at it and seeing sort of a jumping or flying frog !
It is slow in everything... the flower stem first appeared in October and the flowers only now, in January!

Here are the flowers:

Too good that I'm not alone in this 'flying frog' thing, Don! I was worried that it was only me!!!
Anyway, I agree with you, the flower is so different and it really seems to float in the air!

The shape of the flowers is so strange, but I can't see the flying frog! Love the color, the green blooms are so nice.

It is strange, I agree! The flowers come in succession and last long. I still have one open, two new buds developing and a third beginning to form. Nice, ha?

It looks alien to me. Very cool.
