Another GHOST ORCHID
No swamps, no briars, no mosquitos, no snakes or other hazards. Just a short walk to the green house. This was taken in July. Several buds this year. Enjoy!

How old is your ghost? Did you always grow it outside? Amazing considering how cold it gets in GA. How many flowers on that one?

Hi Swamper & flhiker--The ghost was gotten Feb. 03 and bloomed for the first time in Jun. 06. It produces blooms successively from June to Sept. and it had about 9 or 10 blooms this year. It does get cold here in So Ga but I keep the G/H at 55 in the winter and on occassion it has gotten down to 50. The G/H has 63% shade cloth but still very bright. It is grown along with cats. and vandas. The fan runs 24/7 providing good air circulation. Humidity is high here in So Ga and temp get pretty high but with the high humid. it does quite well. It is fertilized with Better-Gro Fertilizer along with superthrive. 1/2 tsp of fert. with 2-3 drops of superthrive per gallon of water. It is fertilized quite often from Sept. until March, but slack off when it starts to bloom. I use "orthene" as a systemic pesticide. It works good and have used on the Ghost to get rid of wooly scale, but it has a bad odor. This Ghost was gotten from Live Oak Orchids but I am sure it can be gotten from others. I think I saw an ad for Oak Hill but not sure. Good luck with yours as they are a beautiful orchid with a challenge. I have been out of town hence, the late reply. Don

thanks for the reply...when you got it, I imagine it was pretty big already? How much did they charge at that time if you don't mind my asking?
