This miniature species is an overachiever! The dimpled leaves are only about a 1 cm (half inch), the flower about 2 cm (just shy of an inch). But the nectary is around 10 cm (4 inches).
I grow it on my patio, so it experiences winter down to around 40 deg. F (4 deg. C) or occasionally cooler. It gets similar winter temperatures in its habitat in the central highlands of Madagascar. It also seems to have no problem with summer. I do try to keep it on the damp side, daily watering at least.
Tough little orchid! It's habitat can even get frost. I visited Madagascar, it was almost spring so starting to warm up, and in a platform tent room in a lodge in the highlands, I slept in my down jacket, it was quite chilly!
