Default Angraecum eichlerianum - What did I do?

I just purchased three angraecums from housermann. A sesquipedal, a leonis and an eichlerianum. These guys look to be directly out of a flask and are extremely tiny, even more so than I thought they would be.

The eichlerianum is mounted a a tiny cedar shingle, and I was thinking I would "plant" the plant and shingle together in a pot with a coarse medium of fire bark, charcoal, sphagnum moss and chunky pearlite. Whatta ya think?

I've never had orchids this tiny and young before. Are there any special do's and don'ts I need to know about for their care?

Thanks..

They're surprisingly tough. If you put them into a very humid environment, and water and fertilize regularly, they grow rapidly. I have a humid sunroom. You could put them into a large pickle jar or vase.

You could do what you propose, but I wouldn't use coarse bark - I would use small or even fine, and the smallest pot into which you could fit the shingle with the plant roots in the medium.

I absolutely would not remove the plant from the mount. That would damage the tiny, delicate roots.

Thank you estación seca. I was going to do exactly what you suggested, place the entire plant, shingle and all into a small pot into which I've drilled some holes for aeration. I like the part of "they grow fast". I sure hope so.
Thanks for the help.

Well - fast for an orchid. I would expect double to triple in size in a year with good care for that small seedling.

It's not just out of flask. I bet there are quite a few roots tightly clinging to the wood.

Yes, there are several roots clinging to the cedar.
Stay well my friend.
