When we relocated to the beach, we moved into a much smaller house on a much smaller lot than we had in PA (YAY! on both counts, from a maintenance perspective.)
No greenhouse, and few windows, with the big ones face north out onto the intracoastal waterway and preserved wetlands beyond. The far fewer plants than I used to have "summer" out on the deck, and for the most part, are fine on benches along those windows for the winter, even without supplemental light.
I decided to be a bit more proactive with a mounted Phal. parishii I got from Andy's, so I built a "case" out of wood that houses a recessed LED ceiling "can" light. It is a 13 watt LED that has the same cold white/warm white/far red chips as the ones I use to sell, but in a circular, 5" array. The "tank" is simply a 8" diameter x 12" high cylindrical vase that is partially topped with a piece of plexiglass.
The back of the box light chamber has cooling holes, and it has occurred to me that of I need more "active" air exchange in the tank, I can drill a hole in the "ceiling" and run a tube down into the vase. The warm air escaping the box will draw air out of the vase, which will be replenished from outside.
Lots of new root growth since setting this up two weeks ago, so so far, so good.
