It can be both I think but usually vining. Yes, orange berries. I planted sone against good advise. It smothered my pines and when I harvested it to decorate for the winter, it came up all over my yard.
The bluebirds love it but Patty's application is the best use imho.

The invasive Bittersweet is Oriental Bittersweet, there is an American native Bittersweet that is more of a shrub. They both have the same berries though the Oriental produces more berries and the birds seem to prefer it, probably for the size of the plant versus the small shrub. The birds help disperse the seeds.

The beautiful vines of the Oriental can be very large. Thank you for your kind words.
