Akhenaten, what can I say, I'm speechless! DelawareJim recently pointed me to this thread, as I am new to OrchidBoard, and looking for ideas about how to build an effective terrarium for orchids and carnivorous plants (specifically, lowland Nepenthes and tropical orchids).
Simply stunning, and absolutely inspiring! I would ask the same question as the next previous poster - how do you warm this case in the winter, and cool it in the summer? I don't recall seeing any mention of heaters in prior posts...
Perhaps I missed it in the earlier posts, but do you manually water the orchid wall, or is the misting system on timers sufficient for daily watering, and you only fertilize the orchid wall periodically (and, I assume, manually)? May I safely assume your misters use deionized or RO water? (I saw your post yesterday on watering a terrarium, so I assume you use RO water in your misting system).
Just in case it wasn't obvious, I am absolutely inspired by your awesome terrarium! If the one I eventually build is half as beautiful as yours, I could die a happy man...

I answer of all questions:
What do you use for heating?
I nothing use for heating, because my orchiterrarium stand in my flat, and inside always +24C (75,2F). But my T5 lamps increase temperature till +34C (93,2F) inside orchyterrarium. That is why my cool orchids seem illness and don't blooming. I decide don't grow cool orchid more.
How do you warm this case in the winter, and cool it in the summer?
In winter in Russian Siberian houses is very hot Unfortunately I have not refrigerators system in my orchyterrarium, I try use Peltier element from car refrigerator, but I don't receive effective decrease temperature. And will grow only hot and warm orchids.
Do you manually water the orchid wall, or is the misting system on timers sufficient for daily watering?
No, I don't manually water the orchids. I use only rain forest misting system, for daily automatic spraying my plants. I'm surgeon and I have not a lot of time for my plants. My plants system is absolutely independent form me I only looking. Per week system consume 10 liters of RO water. Before I use tap deionized water during 2 years.
Yes, I fertilize the orchid wall only manually periodically, one-two-three time per week.

Hi Akhenaten
Do you have friends or relatives come to visit you sometimes? If so, I bet the first thing they are looking at is your terrarium. Do you have any other orchid friends? I guess you are probably the only person in Siberia to be into orchids. Just too difficult conditions. I don't know how you constructed everything, and where you got all your ideas from and how you keep them all flourishing so beautifully. Doing that all on your own, without any back up, ideas and support from other orchid club members is amazing. Just the lack of orchid products would be daunting. I feel ashamed of myself when I see what you have to overcome.

Yes, my relatives like looking for my orchyterrarium, especially my 1,5 years old niece.
No, I have no friends, and no one of my familiars don't grow orchids.
But in my city very much peoples grow orchids and very much orchid-shops, and I know about 3 (include me) peoples which have more than 30 plants.
Why do you think that inside growing of orchid in Siberia more difficult, than inside growing in Australia? Artificial light, RO water, balanced fertilizers, humidifier, fans
My orchids I buy in Siberia too, in 1000 km from my city, by post. By internet-shop I buy more rare orchids(Thailand), carnivorous plants (Singapore) , lamps (Germany), fixtures, misting system (New Zealand), EpiWeb (Holland), and other...
It is necessary to want only

I think a lot of people (myself included) had the impression that Siberia is a vast desert of snow and isolation. I know I didn't think of it as being well populated or even having cities.
I am covered in snow as it is winter here in Northeastern US and I'm sure what I deal with growing orchids inside must be similar to your situation.
I'm very happy that knowing you through OB has given me a new impression and appreciation of Siberia. Thank you for sharing and teaching.
I love your Brassioleliocattelia especially.
By the way...who's reflection is in the third picture?

Country Gramma your impressions not strongly erroneous. It is a lot of snow and around all white in the winter In these photos the view from the window, behind my orchids snow desert is visible partially
I am in the third picture (I called this photo "I'm by Ascocenda's eyes" or "Sight of an Ascocenda at me" because this photo made from orcidarium)
