Definetly cycle that tank first, because then you will get nasty cyanobacteria that will grow like crazy in your water.

Right now the top is just open. Depends how it goes maybe a computer fan down the line if I have to seal the top.

I have been making terrariums for years and my last terrarium was my best work yet. But looking back on it I would have changed a few things.
I included into the background a top down tube with a fan at one end. This allows for air movement in a circular fashion around the terrarium. I would improve upon this by adding a second tube on the opposite end of the tank to aid in the circulation. Because my tank is sealed, humidity is very very high, and I do get cyanobacteria growing on the glass (Nostoc) and on the wood that I use as mounts for the plants. If I had that second fan, I think the cyanobacteria problem would be a lot less. Moral of the story, ventilation is super important! If you keep your tank open, then your tank runs the risk of drying out, if you keep it closed, you run the risk of rotting everything. The fun part is finding that happy balance for you tank.

It's really coming along! I like the fishing area, cool. The aquatic plants add a nice touch as well. What's next?

Just gonna wait for the mosses to start taking over and hopefully find more plants. Looking for more minis and terrarium ferns.
