Default New DIY terrarium build

Just a few photos. 1/4 in plywood, 1x2s, 3/4" screws, 3" wood screws and wood glue.

72in long 16 in tall and 10 in wide.

Gonna use acrylic for top and front, computer fans on the sides for air flow. Fiber glass tape to reinforce the bottom seams and non yellowing uv stable epoxy to seal everything. I would normally use pond shield epoxy paint but want the wood grain to show.

I have used glass and other products in the past but this is much easier. Got this far in an hour and half.

Last picture is of a glass terrarium that I made but is getting crowded...hence the new one.

Matthew

It's not that crowded in the first. I see some wall.

Default update

Photo update.

got a couple coats of epoxy on the wood. Got the sides in place. Still need to cut holes for the fans in the ends before they are locked into place.

So far have used a skill saw, radial arm saw and a Japanese hand saw to cut out the ends...

One more coat of epoxy all over and should be water tight.

Getting close now. Just have to cut the front and hinge them and add the fans...

Finally complete.

Also found some new DIY lights on Amazon. Solla 15w led flood lights... Very cheap compared to other lights.

Just have to be wired to plugs..

For starters it is good. Exo Terra still believe even bought the second hand is far better.
I grow orchids in the terrariums and I know how useful it is to do general cleaning every month.
