I thought i check the orchid pretty good before putting them in the terrarium; looking for mealy bugs. These are newly purchased mini orchids. A couple days after i found a caterpillar who had munch on one of the leaves and had settle on the exposed root of the phal. It had good camouflage hard to see it as it match the roots and sphagnam moss .

I am using a 6500k LED light 10 watts seem to be ok considering the size profile of the aquarium. Any suggestions on lighting? Other than pleasant to look at any advantage to adding red or blue Leds?

I don't know if the red and blue LEDs will help out the plants much. I have two grow LED bulbs for my 18x18x18 tank and my plants are doing well.

I don't use a circulating fan in mine because the tank I have is an exo-terra and it have ventilation holes in the front and a screen on top. I've seen on other posts that it's once or twice a day for a few minutes. Just make sure you are watching the temperature of the tank because this can cool the tank down. You might have to experiment to see what will work for your tank.

Red and Blue light(400 nm and 640 nm) are the most efficient wavelength for Photosynthesis so it could help. Many growlights consist only of red and blue LEDs however they turn everything a weird pink color so most people don't find them appealing visually but plants will grow fine under them. I have a terrarium that is about 12 inches tall and a 9 W Jungle Dawn LED (also 6500K I think) and its just barely enough for things on the bottom but fine for everything else so you could go a bit brighter as yours is bigger. As for the fan, I think more than once or twice a day is good. I run my fan on a cycle of a half hour on, followed an hour off and repeat. Keep in mind the idea is to circulate the internal air, not bring in outside air that would lower the humidity and that you just want to prevent any stagnant areas, not have a tornado.
