New Terrarium
Here's my first attempt at a display terrarium that i'm setting up for a crested gecko. The plants on the branch from bottom to top: Restrepia brachypus, Pleurothallis allenii, Cischweinfia rostrata (which looks half dead), Lepanthes gargoyla, and Restrepia contorta. I will be adding Platystele stenostachya somewhere in there as soon as the keikeis are mature. All plants were taken from divisions or keikeis of other plants. The moss was taken off of the Cischweinfia's basket. The light is an aqueon daylight bulb for aquarium use (the r. brachypus seems to do fine with it so i guess it works). Humidity is a bit low (50% at day, 80% at night) due to the light. Any information on the care information for the lepanthes and cischweinfia would be gladly appreciated.

This is Amazing. How is your gecko with plants? I had all kinds of "should I get a lizard or frog" issues a while ago, but thought I would like to Orchids left alone and not walked on. I guess that is why I turned to fish in their own area. I do not know much about the cischweinfia other than there are varieties. Are you getting all "vivarium" plants? some do not appreciate too much mist and they all need air movement. I tend to turn my cool air mister for a few hours per day but then open the top for a while also. I want to install a fan, but that is down the road a bit. So far they are fine but these little bitty plants also must dry out a bit by night. The 80 day and 50 night might need to be reversed. If lights cause problems you may need to go to LEDs they do not heat the place up. Expensive but you can buy LED strips and make your own lighting also. Look also into PAR and make sure that you are getting light on the yellow-RED to Deep-red spectrum. This is what plants rely on to photosynthesize. Plants use light differently than humans. Not to see but to make food (glucose) and they only use certain wavelengths for that. (PAR=Photosynthetically active radiation). This subject is fairly TeKKie, but can be mastered with due diligence.

I don't have the gecko as of now so i don't know how it would fare with the plants, but i do know that these ones are rather flexible and don't break easily. The vendor which i got the mother plants from has used these in his gecko terrariums without problems and also did not have to install a fan for them. I will definitely look into LEDs.

It already looks good!
I just got a Platystele stenostachya last month. I don't know much about it but it is a really nice orchid. It should do great in your set up (mine lives in a glass jar with a lid on it). Of course, you know about that one. I can't really help you with the other ones. Good luck!
