Magnus, thanks! I've been thinking this degrading on cotton. It is quite strong if not just simple net but like the small bags they used to homemake for onions. How high the moisture should be not to need to dip them at all just spraying some extra if needed? Do you have any idea? In my vivarium it should be kept on 80 -90%. Would it be enough?

My experience with epiweb is that I get a better result if I dipp the slabs than just spraying. The roots grow better into the media as explained above. I have 80-95 %RH daytime and 90-100 %RH during night and the plants still needs alot of water. But I have not the time to dip the plant every second day so I spray during the week and dip the slabs for 10-15 min every weekend.

Now I'm getting a bad name. I'm dipping my orchids once a week for 15-30 minutes and they are not in moist enviroment but kitchen and living room. Soorryyy! It seems I should be shamed.

NO YOU SHOULD NOT

Everything depends on your enviroment and the substrat you are growing in and what species and a lot of different parameters. Some can grow in glasfiber (Greenmix in europe) others in pure spagnum moss and others grows on slabs or in bark or in different mixtures. But everyone can not handle every media or growing technique. This is the beauty of Orchid growing! Everyone gets there own technique after some testing and that work perfectly fine for them but not for others!
Continue to do experiment but as long your plants grows and has the health continue with what you are doing! Do not look to much on others!

Hi Magnus, please don't misunderstand this, but, regarding your comment earlier about it not being easy to write in English, well you are one up on me as they say, I can only write in English and sometimes not that well; and two, its kind of cute to read English as a second language when it is written.

My orchids are looking vital and good (at least for my eyes). I've noticed it's better not to fuss with them all the time but let grow in peace. Maybe I'll continue this way then... Thanks Magnus your so kind!

I made discovery and if it's going to be good or the beginning of end, we'll see.

I found small (diam. 10cm)baskets of metal wire basis and quite strong looking jute cord wove very coarce around it. I thought if I fill it with moss and crushed bark and tie on the bottom, outside of the basket, the orchid so it can push its roots into basket if it wants. Then hang the basket so that the open side it facing the wall of terrarium. Of course I'll weave some jute there to stop all inside dropping out too easily when moved.

Do you have any comments to this idea before I'll test how it works?
