The tiniest of tanks.
Ok so maybe not THE tiniest, bust inspired by Ordphien's Nightstand latern (if you haven't seen it you really should check it out: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...d-lantern.html ) and this build on dendroboard: Convert a glass aquarium to a European style terrarium - Dendroboard I decided to make my own tiny low tech tank for a few select minis and micro minis out of an 8in cube aquarium. So far it only has a Lepanthes calodictyon and a Lepanthes telipogoniflora in it but as soon as the weather warms up i am getting a Haraella retrocalla to put in there and i'm planning on taking a leaf cutting from my Lepanthopsis astrophora to put in there as well. in the future i may try to squeeze in one or two more micro minis. But without further ado pictures:

WHat kind of light is that? DOes it emit much heat, and if so how do you keep the temps down in you...I must say....stylish terrarium?

Tindomul, It is one of those clamp on work lights from Home Depot with a75W equivalent CFL (at least i think it is). the housing sits about an inch or 2 above the top of the tank so the temp gains are never much of a problem. I ran it with just the moss and a min/max thermometer-hygrometer for a week or two and even when the radiator got turned on too high in my apartment temps never got over about 78F.
Also: THANKS! I wanted something a little nicer to look at than my plain old aquarium with eggcrate tank that the rest of my minis are in.

If you wait a little bit your lepanthopsis astrophora will grow keikis!
Very nice. The way the stone sits reminds me a bit of iwagumi style planted tanks.
Thanks for showing me calodictyon next to telipogoniflora. Seeing them next to each other really helped me picture it in my nightstand lantern.

I really want one. But I don't think my lantern is big enough. My next setup
Iwagumi tanks are gorgeous. I personally don't have the finances, time, or energy for that style of aquascaping.
But I do love my planted tanks.
They are part of what turned me to orchids.

There is now one little bloom on the calodictyon that I can take absolutely no credit for as it came in bud. And I discovered some residual fuzz from the packing material after I took the photo of course.
