Sweet tank! What are its dimensions?

Good luck trying to find a truly dwarf variety of Nepenthes ... there are less than a handful and those require cool to chilly growing conditions. Some can be rather slow growing but many grow like weeds in ideal conditions. Which hybrid or species is yours?

What orchid is that right after your Psygmorchis?

What bugs have you been introducing for your lizards?

Wow! I went all through that thread! What a jewel! My one question was about the thought of small frogs getting eaten by those big carniverous plants. Also, the care of many of those plants seem different. Watch out for crown rot in those phals! The lizards look so happy.

My tank is 60x30x48" tall

my Nepenthes is a dwarf maxima Lake Poso it just happen to be a particularly large one. A guy who has many, maybe hundreds of nepenthes has several of these & is going to sell me the smallest one he has. It has pitchers half the size of mine, I'm hoping the leaves will be half the size too.

I have a lot of trouble keeping up with the names of plants but the orchid with long narrow leaves is a Pleurothallis luctuosa

I have turned small crickets loose in the tank. I have never seen a lizard eat any & after an hour or so never see the crickets again either. They eat mealworms like candy though.

And thank you all for the kind words. I've had lots of different types of tanks over the years but this has been by far the most work & fun of all.

I did a good bit of research on pitcher plants. Several people who kept frogs with them said frogs will actually lay eggs in the pitchers & they hatch just fine. From what I understand, The liquid in the pitchers isn't all that toxic & relies more on bacteria actions to digest the bugs. I could have that a little off but from what I learned dart frog can get out of the pitchers just fine. Everyone ask that question though.

I tried pretty hard to get plants that all fit the conditions in this tank. Low to medium light, warm to hot growing & damp or high humidity. Everything has done really well. I may have to move one orchid that is in the top of the tank down a little, I think it is getting too much light. other than that all has been well. The only problem has been some pants are so happy they are getting bigger than they should.

The guy I got the phals from warned me about crown rot. I have it so all drop/standing water has evaporated by lights out so they wont have water in the crown all night. They were among my first orchids & growing good so think the system is working OK.

Well I certainly was inspired. Spent the whole day looking at lizards and miniature plants.

I viewed your pictures on photo bucket(very cool) and I was intrigued by your fans and how they are mounted. What did you use to mount them? Becky Jo

Thanks & glad you all enjoyed the thread.

Sorry the photos aren't showing up right now, looks like I ran out of band width till next month. Really pissed photobucket doesn't have a way to contact them.

Anyway here is a link for the mounts I used. There are also suction cup versions some have used because they were mounting to glass, but I used acrylic on my top & could use bolts which i feel better about.

I am told the band width resets every month. So yes, I hope so. This is the first time this has happened to me, if it happens again I guess I'll need to pay for extra band width. I think the reason it has happened is my thread on this tank on the Dendroboard is quite large, it has had nearly 64,000 views in a little over a year. I'm glad people have chosen to follow for sure, just never thought about the pix not showing up one day.

Jim
