Transferring outside moss (attached to soil) to a terrarium? Female
Default Transferring outside moss (attached to soil) to a terrarium?

How does one do this? So, I dug up several nice clumps of moss from the front of the church I work at yesterday, and they are now in a pan, getting misted. I inspected closely, and the moss is firmly attached to the soil. But, I don't WANT soil in my terrarium! How do I detach the moss?

You canīt, straight of!

You "harvest" the moss and spread them out on a suitably surface. Then hope for the best that it like the new environment an start growing. More or less chop it up and spread the pulp. hopefully some parts will stick and start growing.

The problem is though that you will also (with a high probability) transfer eggs from insects that will hatch in yourterrarium...

Yeesh. OK, so I'm just going to go with some sheet moss or sphag that should green up in a terrarium. TOTALLY not dealing with insect eggs.
