My Mini Orchid Vase Vivarium + Wood Glass One Update Pics
Ok Guys
extremely happy with my results so far, got live Sphagnum 2 days ago, and today first few miniature orchids, so I did nearly finish my project Orchid Vase Vivarium and also added that absolutely amazing cute wood & glass house. So far, vase has Scaphyglottis Prolifera on the top, than Haraella Rectrocalla (came today from Andy's, with spike!), and on the bottom Bulbophyllum Pardalotum. Than in the wooden terrarium is only sphagnum and reindeer moss, cork slab and one Haraella, also with the spike. There will be more joining that house next week, both, vase and wooden terrarium will have also Lepanthopsis Astrophora, and there will be Bulbophyllum Rosary Beads in wooden terrarium as well. In the future I would love to add Porpax and Schoenorchis. I did put the clip on light just for gorgeous display in the evening. What do you think????

many thanks, will watch it every day, mist it every day. Sphagnum is keeping it pretty moist inside I think, but you never know, it is inside the apartment. Got also few more mini's that are staying outside, and started new thread with pics, check them, they are cute:-) This was real fun project, I had that vase on my dining table for years and did not change decorations often but this is great use and some orchids inside the house!

don't worry if the sphagnum starts to look likes its dying...
its normal, it takes months to grow so be patient .. ... haha
well that happened to me because of the dryness of where i live but, who knows in Fl.. just so you don't stress if it starts happening to you

Thanks
I bought it here in local store, it seems like more people like them, I went already to buy 2 for another member today and will ship it to her:-) I can get some till they run out, it is local flower store in Miami. I do not have any fan, it is open vase and also there is open tp on the glass wood box, however I am thinking about getting these little clip fans the similar to the clip light I have over the vase just to give it some movement, however I did research the minis that will go inside and they are in most cases grown in different glass orbs, glass vases, and mini vivariums without fans with success. So will see. I am very happy with the looks!

it looks pretty when it is green, however main point is to keep humidity inside, so as far as it does that the look of sphagnum is the least important for me:-) I know to use only RO water:-) Well, we have it humid outside but do not forget this is inside the apartment with AC running so it is kinda dry also here:-)

yes, and you are right about air flow, you don't need a fan for something like this. its when its enclosed when you really need one, this is small and looks great

I thought so, yes, it has actually open top, so there is air movement:-) Nevertheless, I did just order two mini clip fans, just to make it even better, I do love these 2 new projects very much and want the orchids to really thrive, so I am becoming even addicted to inside orchid growing now, oh boy:-)
