Hi everyone,

I am a member for a few days now and I have posted enough to post photos, so now it is time to reveal my orchidarium.
I'm only into orchids for a year and a half now, but my collection of miniature orchids is growing very rapidly!

This is what I have so far in my converted aqaurium:

Aerangis distincta x modesta
Aerangis punctata
Angraecum didieri
Bulbophyllum barbigerum
Bulbophyllum contortisepalum
Bulbophyllum taiwanense
Bulbophyllum woelfliae
Dendrobium kingianum var. Alba
Dryadella simula
Epidendrum polybulbon
Haraella retrocalla
Lepanthes vellicata
Lepanthopsis acuminata
Leptotes bicolor
Oberonia myosurus
Octomeria grandiflora
Oerstedella centradenia
Phalaenopsis bellina
Phalaenopsis bellina var. alba
Phalaenopsis wilsonii
Phymatidium tillandsioides
Platystele misera
Pleurothallis allenii
Pleurothallis niveoglobula
Pleurothallis paleolata
Pleurothallis picta
Pleurothallis sonderiana
Pleurothallis stricta
Pleurothallis tribuloides
Restrepia trichoglossa
Stelis sp.
Stelis spec. Bolivia
Trixpermum formosanum
Tuberolabium odoratisimum

I hope it will not end here!

My boyfriend and I started from an empty terrarium, we built everything ourselves and we are very proud of it!

It looks like I listed on the other post are plants you have yet to own. I think the ones I named are absolute gems.

I love it! That truly is Orchid heaven. How large is the enclosure and what kind of lighting do you use?

The aquarium is 150x50x50cm. The growing area is actually only 120cm, as there is water at the bottom.

As for the lighting, I'm using a 100cm Arcadia T8. I lost the packaging, but it was some plant growth enhancing bulb putting out around 4500K.
As far as I understand, that's allright-ish as I'm supposed to reach 5000K...right? :P

That's a decent sized growing space. There's definitely room for many more minis! I'm fairly sure 4500K should be okay. I have heard of people growing orchids just fine under 3000K bulbs.

Nice Job! How long has it been set up? What temperature do you keep it at & do you use misting?

Thanx!

The picture was taken when it was set up for one week I think! A lot was added since then, more orchids, mosses, Jati-wood, fish and even a crab, I will post some more pictures soon.

It is more or less 22°C, we do not have temperature control it is room temperature. We do have a misting system, it's a Mist King with 4 nozzles. We don't have doors yet so we're spraying by hand for the moment but when it's finished the system will go off twice a day for one minute and a half.

Fish & crab- cool! You must have changed it alot - i cant wait for photos. How did you plant the moss - straight into the substrate or did you crumble it & wait for it to take root?

I didn't do much work to change it, I just gradually add and relocate stuff. As for the fish and the crab, our aquarium was finished but the water wasn't ready for fish yet, it is now.
As for the moss, I just planted them quite easy. I soaked the mosses that I collected from the woods for a day in hot water to remove dirt and bugs, then I just put them in the tank.
Some of the mosses grow on the waterfall and others grow on the wall (epiweb) on places where it is really wet.

Here's a list of my newest plants:

Pleurothallis macroblepharis
Barbosella cucullata
Ornithocephalus gladiatus
Zygostates grandiflora
Dendrobium lichenastrum
Lepanthes Noid
Bulbophyllum Noid
Mediocalcar decoratum

And the pictures:

The whole terrarium

The aquarium

The new pieces of Jati-wood (I'm going to keep on adding them to fill up the terrarium)

My crab (just because I really like him)

A bit of moss

The moss is really starting to grow (I placed this moss end of April)

Star moss on the waterfall

So that's it for now
