I was thinking about turning a 10 gallon fish tank into a naturalistic looking terrarium. I would like to do orchids, tropical carnivorous plants (most CPs aren't tropical by the way), or something a little different. I would especially love to do carnivorous plants. Do you have any recomendations for creating a beautiful, natural terrarium? What easy, small orchids would you recommend? Bloom spikes can't get too tall. Could I combine orchids and CPs? I saw the sticky on orchids for terrariums and looked a few orchids up. Any good carnivorous plants for terrariums?
I would light it with T5 lights and use pure water and also provide some source of heat in the day.
sorry - I don't know anything about terrariums, but giving you a
I do grow Sarracenia purpurea on windowsill - I believe these are hardy, not tropical - very easy to grow, tho need cold to go dormant, in order to bloom (mine stay inside, and don't go dormant). They may do fine in a tropical terriarium - just not bloom ...

The lowland Nepenthes are your best bet CPs for a terrarium - the trick is in finding one that is small enough to live in a 10 gallon tank!
Depending on how warm it gets in there, you may get away with other CPs too, although even most that you've listed don't sound like they'll be happy in a "tropical" terrarium. You'll have trouble with anything that expects a cool/cold winter rest.
D. capensis is pretty weedy - I suspect it'll grow anywhere there is enough light and water!
