Well, today I snuck the words "I'm thinking I'd like to start a vivarium with orchids" into a conversation with my hubby...he took it rather well
So, of course...I am now on a mission
This is my opportunity to get some of the cool-growers that I've been wishing I could have
Making out my list already

You go, Sue!!
You will love these little jewels, I know it. I was just today thinking about a list of things that would work well in a Masdie tank.... (like my new D. cuthbertsonii)
Can't wait to see your set up - I think I'm almost as excited as you!

Don't forget our buddy firstclassaquatics.com when commissioning you new tank. He is very adept at creating tanks (Marty and I have both had tanks made by him). And plan, plan ... and, of course, plan before you pull the trigger on the new aquisition.

Den cuthbertsonii is one I hav always been upset over because my regular growing conditions would not be good for it...but it's on my new cool-growing list, for sure!
I'm thinking I'll need to add that gorgeous Masdevallia Magdalena you posted today, too!
So much shopping to do...a tank and all that goes with it...and more orchids!!!
Another absolute: Den jacobsonii

Thanks for the tip Ross but I'm going to start very basic and simple
I don't really have a lot of room in the house
and the 270+ warm-growers outside are my true passion.
Just want a place where I can get some of gorgeous cool Masdies that I can't have right now...and that makes me crazy!

Paul makes lots of little tanks as well. They are simpler to cool.

Enjoy!!! I am going to live vicariously through you, and enjoy every step of the way with you, Sue!
Woohoo!! I can't wait to see your final list when you're done shopping around.
PS. My Aerangis mysticidii has gone into mine as well (hanging on the side).

Ross, I'll take a look Thanks again
Shakkai, so far I like these:
Den jacobsonii
Masd Magdalena (hope I can find it - so far, I can't )
Amesiella monticola
Coelogyne occulata
Laelia furfuracea
Others include:
Den cuthbertsonii
Masd schroederiana
Sph cernua
I also have an Encyclia polybulbon and Haraella odorata (although the Haraella does very well for me right where it is) that I might integrate into it.
There are more but I want to make sure they're cool-intermediates first

No problem! I don't mind either way... I'm just SO happy that you're going to get to grow some cool growers!
Its SO COOL! ! (bad pun!)
Great list, Sue!
You'd might also like a really mini one that I have (sorry, don't have my own pics of it in flower):
Masd. Tuakau Candy
And you should have a look around for one of the orange ones with little purple hairs on the flower - they are really amazing! The one that I had was Masd. Magdalena x Marguerite.
