New terrariums!

I love terrariums! This one really piqued my curiosity. I know that cuthbertsonii is a cool grower, and the other plants you have are int./warm growers. Does cuthbertsonii adapt well to higher temps? It is so on my wish list but my temps. seem too high, so I'm reluctant to try.

Ezil, from what I've read Soph. coccinea is a cool to warm grower. I don't know what species the Dichaea is, since it was supposed to be a Macroclinium aurorae (not sure how the vendor made that mistake, but oh well) but most of the Dichaeas they had listed were cool to intermediate types. As for the fern and the other little plants, they are more fillers than anything else, so they will just have to adapt. I think everything will be fine in my cool/intermediate conditions. I've only had the Den. cuthbertsonii about a month now, but so far it seems fine. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Also, I think I said this in another post, but I'll say it here too. I have these in my dorm room, which has no AC. On hot days, it can get up to 85F inside and down to 70F at night with my window open. I've had no problems, but this has been an unusually cool summer.

Thanks for the info. I'm still (slowly) filling my terrariums, and I have both warm and intermediate conditions. Right now my masdies are suffering, as the temps are over 30C for the 4th day in a row. It's been a rel. cool summer here and this is the 1st warm spell of the year. All my other pleuros are thriving.

Well, I'm mostly going off of what I've observed in the short time I've had most of these plants. I won't call anything a success until I actually get them to bloom myself.

It's been a cool summer in the Northwest U.S. too. I spent most of the summer in Washington D.C. and it was unusually hot, even for that area so I was told. Then I come home to the nice mild northwest and it finallyl warms up here! What gives!? I finally have 2 Masdies that seem to like me though. One is strobelii and the other is infracta, both warm-growers.

Do you have any updates? I want to thry this for an Epi porpax and a couple of other things I need to keep more humid. Did you add a fan to the aquarium?
did you add any charcoal? do you change the water once ina while? I wonder how to prevent mold and fungii

It is really cool! I like the jar with the rubber o ring . what did you put in there? I have an extra one

No new pics. The fern and the little peperomias have grown a bit, but the Dichaea and Dendrobium cuthbertsonii are pretty much the same.

I mist the ecoweb maybe once every 2 weeks. I'm thinking that I will have to add a fan. The Dichaea has some old leaves at the base that have turned a bit slimy, so I know I need to increase air circulation before that turns into a rot that attacks the live parts of the plant. The biggest problem has been the lid of the big jar. It must have been infected with mold before I bought it, and it's been growing back so I keep treating it with rubbing alcohol and Lysol wipes. I think sealing it with a silicone spray or something would fix the problem permanently, just haven't gotten around to it. I also need to look into supplemental lighting because I can't keep it in the window or else it gets too warm.
