The temps have been around 72 at night and mid 80's during the day(sometimes upper 80's). There are spots in the tank that are cooler esp near the waterfall area.
The moss has grown quickly and is mainly comprised of kyoto moss spores. I put 2 or 3 packets directly in the tank when I finished and I also had some in the substrate.
A while back I started some kyoto moss on a layer of sphagnum and it started to grow alright. I had gotten somewhat sick so that all dried up. I put that in with my substrate mix. I also got some chunks of greenhouse moss to put in there that looks like it has done well along with moss that I purchased from black jungle. I've also got some sphagnum popping up in spots.
So yeah, kyoto moss spores seam to do well in vivs. I would watch out though because some companies that sell the stuff put chemicals and fertilizers in with the spores. So, if you're going to have animals in the tank I would keep that bit of info in mind. Like all moss it enjoys good lighting and will stick around where it's moist.
